Capeshøj (or Capes Høj) is located on the island of Tåsinge in Svendborg municipality and is a long dolmen from the Neolithic Age,
on which a Bronze Age mound was later built.
Excavations in the 1970s revealed a long dolmen under the Bronze Age mound,
and it was subsequently restored.
The long dolmen is the best preserved long dolmen on Tåsinge and one of the best preserved on South Funen.
It is approx. 36 meters long, 7 meters wide and almost 1.5 meters high.
Capeshøj was surrounded by 56 large curbstones (although several are now missing),
and it contains a narrow, rectangular burial chamber, which was originally closed with a cover stone (now disappeared).
The long dolmen was hidden under a large burial mound from the Early Bronze Age (approx. 1700-1100 BC) until the excavation in 1976-1979.
The Bronze Age mound originally had a diameter of 40 meters and was approximately 1.6 meters high.
During the excavation, four Bronze Age graves were also found, containing two bronze swords, two bronze coat hooks (suit buckles) and a double button.
Two stones on the east side of the long mound have bowl marks.
