The main part (Cuicuilco A) of the archaeological site of the Valley of Mexico's probable oldest major urban center. The settlement stretched well to the west, beyond the Avenida Insurgentes (Cuicuilco B), but that portion is now mostly beneath the modern Olympic village. The city existed from c. 750 BC, until it was abandoned, apparently in response to a series of eruptions by the nearby Xitle volcano between c. AD 245 and 315.
