The Carian sancturay of Gerga dates back to the Archaic period. The most intriguing is tthe temple with the inscription in front of it The inscriptions of the some sacred steles or statues may suggest that the Mother Goddess was worshipped with her local name.
There are four spring houses of the same plan in the area of the temple. A. Baran suggests that these spring houses indicate the existence of a Sacred Way leading to Gergakome, perhaps from Alabanda.
Many inscriptions written on rocks have been discovered . They are spread across many places, with the temenos terrace as the center.
