Annotations

This is one of about twenty-five forts that were established at the time of, or after the conquest but before the Boudican revolt.

The main streets of Gloucester are aligned on the main streets of this fortress.  The post was abandoned when Glevum was given colonia status by Nerva, and the new town built around the remains of the fort.
