Annotations

On the northwestern wall of the Mahalaç  Byzantine church corridor, there is a one-line inscription written in Luwian hieroglyphs, 2 meters long, the left end of which is partially damaged. “Here is the Storm-god of the heavens, the holy Great Mountain (and) for all the gods, (for?) His Majesty, the Great King, Hartapu…, (he) conquered all the lands, (for?) the Storm-god of the heavens and all the gods…” . "Great King Hartapu" is written in the second and short inscription on the southeast wall of the corridor, diagonally opposite the inscription. The name Hartapu is also mentioned in Kızıldağ, Türkmen-Karahöyük and Burunkaya. The monument is dated to the 8th century BC.
