Aradus- Arados was Syrio-Phoenician town situated on an island opposite Tartus. The Phoenician city is mentioned ias "Irtu" in the Annals of Thutmose III at the Karnak Temple. The Biblical "Arvad" is noted as the forefather of the "Arvadites", a Canaanite people1. According to Amarna letters town was in league with the Amorites in their attacks on the Egyptian possessions in Syria2.
