Annotations

The Kellekli Stela was found in 1902 ca 1 km from the village Kelekli. The 1.2 meter highand 0,62 m wide, with a missing top and bottom was made of black basalt stone. Two opposing figures, possibly Teshub (dressed in short kilt and shoes with upturned toes) 1 and a ruler are depicted on the front side. Below them on left, front, and right sides is a luwian inscription of Suhis II of Karkamış. The name of a king Tudhaliyas is recorded as well.Stele dates to Karkemis II / III Period.
