Annotations

The Doxipara Tumulus located ca 1 km west of Mikri Doxipara village was erected in the II century AD. There wer burrie four members of a family who died in succession. The rescue excavation of the burial started in 2002. Apart four inhumated bodies the excavations yielded also the grave goods, five wagons along with their draft teams and  five horses. The burial libations are prooved by broken vessels, ashes and animal bones in different places of the tumulus.  On the  two platforms made of bricks was left a large number of small vessels containing offerings to the dead.
