The Nimrud Monolith is one of the two stelae - orthostat discovered in 1861 by a British archaeologist John George Taylor in Kurkh - Uctepe in Diyarbakir province. This large commemorative stela BM 118883, records the royal construction activity of Ashurnasirpal II (r. 883 BC- 859 BC). Dates to 879 BC.
