Annotaties
The Lower town Assyrians called the karum-trade outpost was a part of the site where traders (native and foreign) stayed, lived and conducted business. ,,The end of the lower town can be dated to 1680, then we observe a microclimate change, the environment was under water and the traffic stopped.''1 The Kanesh karum was the largest. The unearthed documents written on baked-clay tablets record common activities, such as trade between the Assyrian colony and the city-state of Assur and between Assyrian merchants and locals. The Kültepe texts numbering over 23,000 are the oldest documents from Anatolia.
