Annotations

On Mahallaç Hill the highest point of Karadağ, there is a cut stone church of the latin cross plan church and a monastery building to the west of the church, and cisterns in the courtyard between them. These structures are connected to each other with stone cloisters. Mahallaç church dates back to the 4th-6th centuries. Mahalaç, thought to be refer to the Archangel Michael. This Byzantine Church complex built on top of the remains of an ancient Hittite sanctuary.
