Makronisos/Macronisos is a graveyard consisting of the tombs of the Hellenistic and Roman Period. Therevare unearthed ninneteen rock-cut tombs. The tombs consist of stepped dromos, and a chamber. Almost identical rectangular chamber was equipped with rectangular trench in the middle, slightly lower than the floor and three benches at the sides of the chamber. The dead were buried in clay sarcophagus. Some of the tombs have additionally a loculus carved opposite the entrance, some have four benches on either side and one opposite the entrance.
