Also called Tarkhanaberd and Ishkhanaberd. The ruined and overgrown site of the Khokhanaberd fortress in medieval Khachen. Possibly initially built by the Muslim conquerors of the area, it became a stronghold of the Christian kings of Khachen. Besieged by the Mongols in 1236, resulting in the submission of the ruler of Khachen. The ruins are located within dense vegetation and under a forest canopy.
