Channel hypocaust, Chedworth Roman Villa. The other type of hypocaust (Cf. Pillar) to be found at Chedworth. In this variety the hot air wafts down channels under the floor. This photo also shows some of the mosaic tiles. (Cf. Pillar Hypocaust 154265 More mosaic 154259)
