Seleucia in Pieria or Seleucia by the Sea: port in Syria, one of the four cities of the Syrian tetrapolis. The modern name is Çevlik, a village near Samandağ. The city is not to be confused with Seleucia on the Tigris. See http://www.livius.org/se-sg/seleucia/seleucia_pieria.html

Seleucia Pieria was founded in ca. 300 BCE by Seleucus I Nicator (ca 358 BC – 281 BC), one of the Diadochi - Sucessors of the Alexander the Great (356 BC – 323 BC). Town was captured ca 540 AD by Sasanids.
